An RFID or smart ticket has a thinner-than-paper transponder (combination chip and antenna) between two layers of paper. This sandwich can be manufactured as an individual ticket or in Z-folded perforated ticket lines. 

Smart tickets combine the advantages of paper tickets and contactless chip cards. The low material costs (paper instead of PVC etc.) gives them much lower unit costs, while maintaining all the benefits of RFID technology: fast, convenient, and secure contactless data transfer. 

RFID tickets are the newcomer RFID medium. Their potential is greatest in applications heretofore covered by cardboard tickets and contactless chip cards. This includes ski resorts, stadiums and event venues, and public transportation. 

Naturally, RFID tickets can be printed just like conventional paper tickets. They can be post-printed by thermal printer in the same way as regular paper tickets.
